The USDA 2501 Program is a crucial initiative designed to empower BIPOC and veteran farmers with the tools, resources, and training needed to build successful farming operations. Administered through Central State University, the program focuses on ensuring equitable access to USDA programs and services for historically underserved communities.

2501 extends resources to veteran farmers looking to strengthen their agricultural enterprises.

The Appalachia Regional Food Business Center provides technical assistance and coordination for food and farm businesses across a seven-state region, including all of Ohio. One of the most impactful resources available is the Business Builder Subaward (BBS) program, offering up to $100,000 in no-match funding to support small and mid-sized food and farm businesses.

The second round of funding will open in March 2025, with a total of five rounds planned. These grants are designed to help strengthen local food systems and expand opportunities for food and farm businesses.
