March 11th | Pollinator Partnership and Pettit Green Thumb Farms invite members of the agricultural community to participate in the upcoming, in-person workshop to increase knowledge of practices that both support pollinator conservation and directly benefit agricultural lands!
Topics Include:
- The benefits realized through co-locating pollinator habitat installations: reduced pests and pest pressure, increased productivity, and increased soil and water conservation, among others.
- Technical guidance on creating and establishing various habitat installation types, early and long-term best management practices.
- Information on local, state, and federal agencies/organizations that offer technical assistance and financial programs.
- A guided field tour of a farm site will follow the classroom portion of the workshop to allow participants to talk with farmland managers and to see how habitat is integrated into their operations and management routines. We will be traveling to the field portion and walking over rough/uneven terrain. Please contact Sophia at [email protected] with questions and concerns.
The $10 registration fee covers the cost of morning snacks and a full lunch. Dietary preferences can be noted in the registration form. Because we are ordering food, the registration fee is non-refundable.
March 13th and 18th | Have questions on estate planning with your farm?
We all tend to put off making decisions that involve the death of family members. While these may be hard conversations, they need to happen so that farms and property can be smoothly transitioned to a new generation. We are holding a two evening meeting designed to teach you about steps to take and questions to ask. No products or services are being sold. OSU Extension is providing education. The meetings will take place in the Babcock Building at the Hartford Fairgrounds on March 13 and 18, 2025. The meetings will be from 6-9 p.m. and the fee is $25 per couple to cover the cost of materials and snacks. Additional family members can attend for $15 per person. Reservations deadline is March 7.
Workshop topics include: Developing Legacy Goals; Planning for the Transition of Management; Planning for the Unexpected; Communication and Conflict Management; Legal Tools and Strategies; Developing Your Team; Getting Your Affairs in Order; and Selecting an Attorney.
